Emily D. Bello-Pardo
Emily D. Bello-Pardo graduated with a Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Florida International University in May of 2015. She was a Fellow of the Latin American Marijuana Research Initiative (LAMRI,) where she studied the legalization of marijuana in Uruguay. In 2013, Bello-Pardo received her dual BAs in Political Science and International Relations from FIU, where she was was inducted Phi Beta Kappa, graduated with academic honors, and attained certificates in Latin American Studies and National Security Studies. Her general research interests include political communication, drug policy and security, processes of democratization and autocratization, and the influence of online communication in political processes, attitudes and identities. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science, with a focus on Comparative Politics and Public Policy, at American University in Washington, D.C.
